Why use it

Google's open-source MCP server connects agents to databases through prebuilt or custom tools, but it does not make queries safe by itself.

Best for: A data or finance team with engineering support that can restrict database accounts, toolsets, query cost, and returned data.

Limitations: A nontechnical self-install, unrestricted production queries, or a substitute for data modelling and access controls.
